성은지 Eunji Sung

한국무용을 공부한 성은지는 미디어아트팀 OKI의 비주얼 아티스트로 활동하며 다양한 미디엄이 가지는 움직임을 발견하고 재구성 한다. 서울문화재단 청년예술단지원 무용분야 선정작인 쌍반의 〈건성 구락부〉에 안무가, 비주얼 아티스트로 참여했으며, 남산예술센터의 서치라이트 선정작인 이세승의 〈삼고무〉에 프로듀서로 참여했다.


Eunji Sung studied Korean dance and now works as a visual artist for media art team OKI — finding and reconstructing movements of diverse mediums. She participated as a choreographer and visual artist in Geonsung Gurakboo (by Ssanban) — selected in the Dance field for Youth Art Company Support Project from Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, and as a producer of Samgomu (by Sesueng Lee) — chosen for Search Wright by Namsan Arts Center.

앤트맨 Ant man

앤트맨은 세계의 작은 크리처로 매일을 살아가며 표면과 내부를 이동하는 작가의 일상적 미디엄과 그 움직임에 초점을 둔다. 세상을 하나의 두꺼운 판으로 보았을 때 촉감으로 느낄 수 있는 세계는 양각으로, 프레임 속에 존재하고 손으로 만질 수 없는 세상은 음각으로 보인다. 양각 세계에서의 인과 혹은 이해관계는 음각의 세계에서는 왜곡될 수 있고 부자연스러울 수 있다.

매일 이미지를 기록할 때, 최소한의 사진/동영상 몇 장을 멋지게 기록해 남길 수 없었고 동시에 방대한 양의 데이터를 감당할 수도 없었다. 무수히 많은 사진과 영상들 중 기억에 남았고, 남기고 싶고, 남을 사진으로 가지치기를 할 때, 한장 한장을 보며 왜 내가 셔터를 누르게 되었는지 그 순간의 느낌을 회상한다. 그날의 기분, 느낌 그리고 감상을 레이어로 쌓아 그림일기처럼 정리하고 기록한다.

As a little creature living in the world, Ant man focuses on the artists ordinary medium and its movement exploring the surface and the inside. If we regard the world as a thick plate, the touchable part can be the embossed and the intangible elements in frame can be the engraving. The interests or causality in the embossed world can be distorted or strained in the world of engraving.

It was neither possible to record images of every day in the minimum quantity of photographs/videos nor to handle a vast body of data. As though I am pruning, I look through the countless images (and also moving images) one by one, retracing the sensations of each shutter click, choosing photographs. I pick the ones that remain and will be memorable and unforgettable. Similar to the form of an illustrated diary, I organize and record the feelings, mood and sentiments from the day.
