허현정 Hyunjung Huh

서울을 기반으로 활동하는 허현정은 그림을 그리고 그려진 것들을 만든다. 점과 선이 만드는 모호하고 불명확한 서사에 주목하며 일러스트레이션, 페인팅, 독립출판, 가끔 만화, 가끔 애니메이션 등 시각예술의 경계를 오가며 활동한다. 전시 〈포털〉에 공동 기획으로 참여했으며 책 『길고 부드러운 침묵』과 『운행, The Ride』를 출판했다.


Seoul-based artist Hyunjung Huh draws and makes drawn things. Focusing on ambiguous and indefinite narratives created by dots and lines, she works across boundaries of visual art, such as illustration, painting, independent publishing, and occasional comics or animation. She co-organized exhibition PORTAL and published books: Long and Soft Silence and The Ride.

잘자 Good Night

냄새를 배우는 아기처럼 잠드는 법을 배워봅시다. 벽과 벽의 경계에서 꿈이 스며들어오는 순간에 눈을 두 번 감았다 떠봅시다. 진공에서 들리는 소리와 암흑에서 보이는 손을 이불 속에 숨깁시다. 눈꺼풀 안쪽에서 꿈틀거리는 형광 벌레들도 수정처럼 흐르며 머리를 조이는 빛들도 벽도 손도 계속해서 같은 곳을 노려보고 있으면 금방 사라집니다. 금방 사라집니다. 금방 타서 없어집니다.

Let’s try to fall asleep like a baby who is learning how to smell. Close and open your eyes twice at the moment of the dreams’ appearance from the border of two walls. Hide the sound coming from the vacuum state and put away the hand visible in the darkness under your blanket. Everything disappears in a while as staring at one point — the fluorescent bugs wriggling under your eyelids, the light glaring down on your head, the wall and the hand. They disappear soon enough. They will burn down at any minute.
